SCHEDULE A GUIDED VISIT
Welcome to Kaleidoscope Desert — a nonprofit sanctuary and creative retreat just outside of Joshua Tree.
Join us for a guided walk through our desert artscape, where art, nature, and rescued beings exist side by side. You may encounter some of the animals who live here — from soft-footed grazers to colorful birds — all of whom roam freely and interact on their own terms. The experience unfolds slowly, shaped by the rhythms of the land and the comfort of its inhabitants.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your visit helps support the ongoing care of the animals and the continued creation of this living sanctuary.
Please note: Visits are limited to guests ages 16 and older. All bookings are final.
STAY AT KALEIDOSCOPE DESERT
Looking for a quiet, creative place to unwind? We occasionally open our private home and sanctuary to overnight guests seeking inspiration, restoration, or just a break from the world. Each stay is hosted on a limited basis and offers access to the immersive art and natural beauty of the space. Come slow down, stargaze, soak, and settle into the rhythm of the desert.
Please note: Our stays are quiet, low-impact, and by reservation only. We do not host parties or public events.

What We Do
We rescue animals both locally and nationally, and give them the best life possible on the ranch.
We create a transcendent, immersive environment that unites art and animals for a truly unique – and most importantly, healing and restorative – experience.
We support local and resident artists to create works of wonder around the property.
We invite guests to experience it all by staying in one of our uniquely designed rentable spaces or by visiting us for a desert adventure.
About Morongo Valley
Our town is a little oasis in the middle of the desert with no more than 5,000 local inhabitants, not far from Joshua Tree National Park. At once strange and sublime, the hills rise up around you, dotted with Yucca trees that look like ancient creatures come to life. The nights are silent and peaceful, with a sky full of stars that seems close enough to touch. There is an energy in this place that is hard to describe: the sunsets are a work of art and the air is filled with the songs of coyotes and the scurrying of desert critters. It's a place where you can come to escape, to refresh, to find yourself again.

Kaleidoscope Desert is a sanctuary for animals and humans. We believe in the healing nature of animals and provide a sacred space for humans to interact.
Our Vision
We envision Kaleidoscope Desert as a place of healing for both humans and animals. We believe this sanctuary is not just a desert gem but also a prototype for how humans can live in the future in harmony with nature, art, and animals.
Our Mission
Kaleidoscope Desert rescues both animals and humans in need of healing. Through providing a space to recharge and rejuvenate we aim to be a harmonious collaboration between the magic of Joshua Tree, the love of animals, and the spirit of people.
Our Purpose
Kaleidoscope Desert is both an idea and a place. Humans can be completely self sufficient and in harmony with nature and animals and be happier than they are otherwise.
At Kaleidoscope Desert we believe in a harmonious collaboration between people, animals, nature, and art.
